Inspired by Fashion - Ombre Sponge Nails

Pin It Now!

Hello lovely nail art lovers! Sorry it's been a bit quiet here for the last little while. I'm back now. :)

Today I have for you a fashion inspired look. I think the most "famous" nail artist/blogger who does fashion inspired nails is Miss Lady Finger. I really like her posts because, not only are the nails awesome but she always has a little blurb about the designer that inspired the nail art in her posts. Very creative!

So here's my beginners attempt. Even though it's simple, I like how it turned out.

For my fashion inspiration I went with this gradient, dip dyed t-shirt in "vintage rose" by Joie Maddie. I saw it in a email alert from a jeans boutique called Donna Ida.  Normally stuff from Donna Ida is completely unaffordable, but their sales are pretty good and you can get some real bargains (UK girls take note). Hence why I signed up for the email alerts. ;)

Ok so I started off with 3 coats of Sally Hansen Natural White polish, and then added a coat of Seche Vite to seal things before starting my sponging.

The sponge I used was a cheap cosmetics sponge I had lying around. The polish colours I used were Nails Inc Wilton Row for the bottom and Sally Hansen Natural White for the middle section. For the top I didn't have the exact peachy shade I needed so I mixed my own. Very fun! I used one drop of Maybelline Flamingo Pink (great colour, rubbish polish), 1 drop of Opi Flit a Bit (orange creme), and 2 drops of Orly Who's Who Pink (a skin toned, peachy creme).

I'll be playing with sponges again for sure. This was really quick and fun to do!

  1. You did the manicure really well. I 'm still practicing the gradient effect :)

    1. It took me a couple of tries to get it right, but it's good fun! The cleanup is less fun... ;) took a while.
